On March 30th, 2012, Tara Casper- Vitale RN,BSN, ONC passed the Orthopaedic Nurse Certified Examination.  The ONC Examination is accredited by the The Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing Certification (ABSNC).  The Orthopaedic Nursing Certification Board’s (ONCB®) certification exams recognize a commitment to lifelong learning and a high level of knowledge that contributes to effective patient care and safety.

Through the ONC exam, ONCB® (Orthopaedic Nursing Certification Board) advances the care of the orthopaedic patient and promotes excellence in specialty nursing practice by encouraging professional development and clinical practice. The ONC credential should be recognized by colleagues and employers as a mark of excellence.

“I feel that it shows I am educated, engaged, and committed to providing the highest quality of care to my patients”, said Vitale.

The certification is valid for five years and nurses can recertify by retaking and passing the certification examination or by meeting continuing education and practice requirements. Vitale is currently in the process of becoming a member of the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses.
