Lake Norman Regional Medical Center Announces New Infection Control Practitioner

Lake Norman Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce and welcome Chika Duru, RN, BSN, MSN, as Infection Control Practitioner.

Duru brings 24 years of experience in health care with her to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.  After graduating from nursing school in 1994, Duru has worked in a variety of nursing areas, including neurosciences.  While working in the neuro-surgical intensive care unit (NSICU), Duru also worked in the medical intensive care unit (MICU), surgical intensive care unit (SICU), trauma intensive care unit (TICU), coronary care unit (CCU), progressive care unit (PCU), post anesthesia care unit (PAC). Duru has also worked with the American Red Cross as the assistant head nurse and has held leadership roles in management and administration since 2006.

Duru obtained her Baccalaureate’s (bachelors) and Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she also worked as part-time faculty with the undergraduate nursing students.  After UNC Charlotte, Duru continued her education at the University of Alabama where she is studying for a Doctorate degree in Nursing Practice. 

Duru’s new role as the Infection Control Practitoner will be to isolate and restrict spread of infectious diseases at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center and to reduce the risk of health care-obtained infection.
