Lake Norman Regional Medical Center Declares June 27th as Gayle Brown, RN, Day at the Hospital

Women’s Services Nurse Retires after 46-Year Nursing Career

MOORESVILLE, NC (July 2, 2013) – Gayle Brown, RN, has retired after a 46-year career in nursing, with many of her most memorable years spent in Women’s, Children’s, and Maternity Services, including Obstetrics and Gynecology.  A retirement party was held for Gayle by her peers in the Women’s & Maternity Services department, and June 27th was officially declared Gayle Brown Day at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center with a proclamation read and presented by Christine McKenzie, FACHE, SPHR, Market Director of Human Resources and Marie Marks, BSN, RNC-OB, Director of Women’s and Children’s Services. 

The proclamation, signed by Steve Midkiff, CEO of the hospital, states: Whereas, the organization of Lake Norman Regional Medical Center is committed to being the first choice for healthcare services in our region; and Whereas, it recognizes that having a knowledgeable, skilled workforce improves the performance of the organization; Whereas retaining highly-skilled individuals is a goal of the organization; Whereas, the Women’s Services department recognizes the commitment of their dedicated staff; Whereas, Gayle Brown, has dedicated forty-six (46) years of service to the noble profession of Registered Nurse; Now, Therefore, I, Steve Midkiff, CEO of Lake Norman Regional Medical Center do hereby proclaim Thursday, June 27, 2013, as Gayle Brown Day.

Many associates of Brown’s in attendance commented very highly on her lifetime dedication and service to the nursing profession, to her fellow associates, to her dedication to the hospital and, most especially, to her many devoted years of caring for so many patients. As one fellow associate commented, “Gayle’s love of service to others is a shining example of what not only the nursing profession is founded upon but what the Golden Rule teaches us.” “She is the example for all of us, especially those of us in the service industry, to follow.”
