Mooresville, NC (January 21, 2014) – Lake Norman Regional Medical Center welcomes Kara Cheezan, BS, RHIA, CTR, as its new Tumor Registrar. Cheezan is a 2012 graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management and Systems. She worked as an intern in the Medical Information Management Department for The Ohio State University Medical Center throughout her years at OSU. She received her RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) in 2012, and began working at The James Cancer Registry at OSU in 2012, immediately upon graduation as a cancer registrar. She then received her CTR (Certified Tumor Registrar) in early 2013, and relocated to Charlotte in June 2013, while continuing to work remotely for OSU until January 2014. She is a four-year brain cancer survivor, which is the main reason she is so passionate about cancer registry.
