The Center for Surgical Weight Loss at Lake Norman Hosts Free Surgical Weight Loss Seminars

MOORESVILLE, NC (February 25, 2014) – The Center for Surgical Weight Loss at Lake Norman hosts free monthly educational seminars, Understanding Surgical Weight Loss. The next seminars will be held Wednesday, March 12th, and Monday, March 31st from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m., in The Center for Surgical Weight Loss at Lake Norman located in the Medical Pavilion at Lake Norman, 131 Medical Park Rd., Suite 303, in Mooresville.

Ryan Heider, M.D., Medical Director of The Center for Surgical Weight Loss at Lake Norman, will explain the procedures and processes from the initial consultation to post-op nutritional counseling. Presentations are followed by a question and answer period.

Morbid obesity is a life-threatening disease that affects over 15 million people in the United States. A landmark study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that bariatric surgery improved or resolved type-2 diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea and high cholesterol in the vast majority of morbidly obese patients. Most patients had lost 55 to 70 percent of their excess weight one year after bariatric surgery.

If unable to attend this seminar, there will be an additional seminars held on a monthly basis in 2014.
