Preventing Home Drowning

If you have small children in the home, never leave a bucket sitting out that contains even a small amount of liquid, advises the Consumer Product Safety Commission. When you finish using a bucket, always empty it completely. Store buckets where young children cannot reach them. Don't leave buckets outdoors because they may collect rainwater.
