Special Care Nursery
Every delivery at The Stork’s Landing Maternity Center is a special delivery. Although most deliveries are routine, Lake Norman Regional Medical Center is proud to offer neonatal care in its Special Care Nursery. Under the direction of full-time, board-certified Neonatologists, our specially trained neonatal team provides individualized care to babies with additional needs. The Special Care Nursery is equipped to provide advanced care to newborns with high health risks such as breathing difficulty, nutritional deficiencies or other conditions that may occur with premature birth. Sometimes babies are born before their bodies are ready. Important organs may not be mature enough to function without help. Neonatologists have the special training required to evaluate and treat such problems if they occur. Care is provided for sick premature infants as young as 32 weeks completed gestation, sick term-newborns, and short-term ventilation needs. Neonatologists attend high-risk deliveries and immediate consultative resources at local childrens’ hospitals with transfers available as conditions indicate.
Our classes and programs for expectant and new parents will help you learn more about childbirth your new baby.
