Surgical Services
When you need surgery, it can be a stressful and emotional time for you and your loved ones. At Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, we provide surgical care, advanced technology and knowledgeable and experienced surgeons.
We offer a range of surgical services in almost every medical specialty - everything from general surgery to treat colorectal cancer, gastroesophageal reflux and hernias, to minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgical options.
The skilled teams work closely with patients, families and their primary care doctors to answer questions and address concerns. At Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, our focus is on patient safety, care and comfort.
Minimally Invasive Options
The surgeons at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center perform minimally invasive procedures when possible. By using miniature cameras with microscopes, tiny fiber-optic flashlights and high-definition monitors, surgeons can perform surgery through small incisions that take only a few stitches to close. Minimally invasive procedures may result in less blood loss, less pain and a quicker recovery. Many patients experience a shorter hospital stay and less scarring with minimally invasive surgery.
We offer minimally invasive surgical procedures in the following specialties:
Before you decide on surgery, discuss treatment options with your doctor. Understanding the risks and benefits of each treatment can help you make the best decision for your individual situation.
Partial Knee Replacement/Resurfacing
Surgeons at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center can perform a minimally invasive technique to treat knee pain associated with early to mid-stage osteoarthritis. During the procedure, surgeons resurface the diseased portion of the knee, sparing the healthy bone and surrounding tissue. This technique can offer patients a more natural knee motion than traditional procedures. Since healthy bone is preserved, individuals who undergo this procedure may still be a candidate for total knee replacement surgery in the future.
Total Hip Replacement
For those who suffer from hip pain resulting from degenerative joint disease, orthopedic surgeons at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center can use a minimally invasive robotic-assisted technique for hip replacement. During the procedure, surgeons use visual and tactile feedback and real-time data to prepare the hip socket for a more exact implant alignment, reducing complications such as excessive wear on the joint, unequal leg length or dislocation.
