Lake Norman Regional Medical Center Nurse Recognized as Employee of the Year for 2023

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Austin Taylor, BSN, RN, has been named Lake Norman Regional Medical Center's Employee of the Year for 2023. As read by the Director of Critical Care Services, Julie Parker, RN: "Austin has excelled in many roles at Lake Norman Regional. He started as a CCU (critical care unit) CNA (certified nursing assistant) and cross-trained as a monitor tech.

After a brief sabbatical to complete nursing school, he returned to Lake Norman Regional as a new grad nurse in the CCU. From new grad to preceptor to charge nurse and even as nursing supervisor, he models our hospital's mission and values." Austin is continuously recognized by patients and their families and was most recently nominated for the prestigious nursing DAISY Award, not once, but twice. A patient's family member recently shared: "My family and I were blown away by the care and compassion Austin provided to our loved one during a devastating time. I want to recognize and thank him for going the extra mile to ensure not only my loved one (the patient) but also our entire family were well taken care of during our time in the hospital."

Additionally, Austin is highly-respected by his co-workers in all departments. A Hospitalist recently commented: "I have been working with Austin for a while...He is a great nurse, who is compassionate with deep knowledge of patient's condition and plan of care to manage patient and family's expectations." CCU Director Parker continued: "Austin has an unmatched dedication to our patients, our team, our unit, and hospital. He is well known as someone who is always willing to lend a hand, whether coming in early or staying late, filling in as nurse supervisor, or assisting other departments with his vast knowledge and clinical expertise."
